Introduced and popularized by the late biologist, naturalist and writer Edward O. Wilson, is the biophilia hypothesis which suggests humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature, “the urge to affiliate with other forms of life".
My series is a celebration of several notable individuals based on Staten Island who embody this statement. Well-representing the borough's population, they're young, dedicated, experienced, and generous with their expertise. These efforts are vital to the health of the planet and human society. Imparting knowledge with joy, promoting enthusiasm for deeper understanding of flora, fauna, and ecology is a public service.
This project is made possible by public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and a DCA Art Fund Grant from Staten Island Arts, with cooperation by NYC Parks
